I love music. Sharing music is one of my favourite things to do and I'm always curating my collection of Spotify playlists. So I though I would share with you what I have been listening to right now.

Last Friday, the RnB sister duo, Chloe x Halle, blessed my ears when they released their latest album titled, 'Ungodly Hour' and I have had it on repeat ever since! It is a magnificent display of their immense talent and vocal chemistry.
Sisters Chloe and Halle got their break in the music industry when their cover of Beyonce's 'Pretty Hurts' went viral. This caught the Queen B's attention and they were soon signed to her Parkwood Entertainment label. Since then, Chloe x Halle have featured in Beyonce's visual album, Lemonade, and they were also the opening act for Beyonce and Jay-Z's world tour. They also wrote the theme song for and co-starred in the TV show 'Grown-ish' and Halle is set to be cast as Ariel in the upcoming live-action remake of Disney's 'The Little Mermaid'.

In terms of the album, it exudes empowerment and sensuality, as it explores themes such as growth, relationships and love. The Rolling Stone described Chloe x Halle's new album as "a multi-faceted R&B treat, full of glistening vocal chemistry, sharp writing, and a self-determination you want to get up and cheer for". Together, their beautiful harmonies make their voices sound angel-like and heavenly. They are seriously out of this world.
Furthermore, 'Ungodly Hour' successfully conveys Chloe and Halle's versatility as artists. It is evident that the girls have experimented as each track incorporates a different genre and style of music from soulful 90's RnB to contemporary pop. According to NPR, Chloe and Halle believe creative control is paramount as they chose to "co-write all of their new album's 13 tracks, and Chloe herself helped produced 10". They are clearly an example of how music should be created.

However, the meaning of the album is much more deeper and intricate than it appears. In an interview with NPR, Halle stated that "During the ungodly hour, you're thinking of all of the insecurities that you have, the ups and downs of your life, everything". This links to the title track of the album as the chorus is 'When you decide you like yourself, and you need someone in your life, love me at the ungodly hour. Love me at my best and my worst'. She then added on, "so we feel like the... album is really going with the times of what's happening right now, because truly this does feel like the ungodly hour and we just hope that our music can be a healer right now" in regards to the police brutality and racism in America.
Moreover, Chloe x Halle released two music videos alongside their album debut for their songs 'Do It' and 'Forgive Me'. It is evident that they are heavily influenced by their mentor, Beyonce, from their sleek style to elaborate choreography. Nonetheless, the vibes are refreshingly bold and alluring. You should give them a watch below:

I appreciate the amazing music and content Chloe x Halle produces. They remind people of what Generation Z has to offer in terms of creativity and speaking our minds. They are truly changing the game of the music industry and it is clear that they have not come to play!
with love,
